At Eagle Lake Sporting Camps, the adventure never ends. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or looking for a peaceful escape in the Maine wilderness, our wide array of outdoor activities is designed to suit every adventurer. This is a partial list of things to do while based at the lodge.
Water Adventures
Canoe & Kayak Rentals
Canoe around the camp and in the thoroughfare. One canoe has a 4-hp motor. Anytime – weather permitting.
All inclusive plan includes use of boats.
Square Lake Canoe Trip
Guide will transport canoes and guests 5 miles by vehicle to Square Lake. Guests will paddle with the current once reaching the thoroughfare and end up at the camp dock in the thoroughfare. Fishing is possible along the way. Look for moose, bear, eagles, ducks, and other wildlife. Bring a lunch to enjoy. Duration about 4-5 hours.
Guide fee applies.
St. Froid Canoe Trip
Similar activity to above. Guide will transport canoes and guests to the Rt 11 bridge for the 4 mile canoe trip. After exiting the thoroughfare guests can paddle 4 miles east on the lake to the camps or 2 miles to the Old Mill Marina for transport. Duration about 5 hours.
Guide fee applies.
Fish River Canoe Trip
All day trip. Guide will transport guests and equipment 14 miles by boat to the head of the Fish River outlet for the 16 mile canoe trip. Portage around the Fish River Falls and end up at the St. John River in Fort Kent. You will be met and driven 45 miles back to the camps (about a 90 minute trip). Plan a day for this trip.
Guide fee applies.
Fishing
Fish the lake and the thoroughfare for lake trout, brook trout, salmon, and etc. The thoroughfare is known for its world class salmon fishing.
$370 a day for a guide and boat
Muskie Fishing
Experience a canoe and wading trip on the boundary waters of the St. John River with an experienced Muskie guide. Try your hand a catching these giant fish which have made their way into the area. All gear and tackle are provided. If your timing is right you can register for the August Muskie Tournament. Leave early in the morning – back after 2 pm.
$600 for two people
Fly fishing and tying instruction
Learn the skills needed to become a confident fly fisherman. Also learn to tie flies.
$375 a day for the guide and fly tying supplies.
Fly fishing gear packages available starting at $150 per week.
Waterskiing and Wakeboarding
Use the bow rider to enjoy the lake. The guide will operate the boat if you wish and keep it fueled.
Guide, rental, fuel, water skis and wake boards.
Hunting & Shooting Sports
Coyote Hunting
We typically have coyote sites baited. Your guide can check you out and show you the territory.
Guided or self-guided.
Skeet Shooting and Target Practice
Have your guide set up the equipment for shotgun competition or supervise target practice at the range. Bring your shotguns or use our demo guns.
Fee for set up and ammo.
Wildlife & Nature Exploration
Bird Watching
The area is known for its many species which spend the summer. In June when the birds are arriving and the days are long as many as 100 species can be identified in a day. Learn about bird watching from Northern Maine’s renowned expert. Take a tour of the Limestone National Wildlife Reserve and Collins Pond hotspots. Identify the rare species dedicated bird watchers make the special trip to Northern Maine to identify.

Hike Hedgehog Mountain
Drive 20 miles on gravel roads to Hedgehog mountain and hike to the summit for breathtaking views of western Maine’s timberland and St. Froid Lake.
Fort Kent and Fish River Falls
Drive 45 miles to Fort Kent. Hike the Fish River Falls, visit the Fort Kent Block House, check out a museum, and have your picture taken at the start of US Route 1 to compliment your picture at the end of US Rt. 1 in Key West.
Leisure & Adventure Excursions
Tenting
Let us set up an outpost tent on one of the remote campsites on the lake – accessible by boat only. Let it be a private retreat or bring guests. An easy to prepare meal plan with supplies are provided, or we can provide a cook. Take a boat or have the guide transport.
Fee for cook, boat, and incidentals.
Float Plane
Check out the North Maine Woods by Float Plane. Board the plane at our docks with up to 4 people at a time. Arrangements can be made for luncheon at affiliated sporting camps. Fly the Allagash Waterway and see the Allagash Falls and other historic sites.
Rate of $400 per hour flying time. Minimum charge may apply depending on season. Fuel surcharge may apply.
Quebec City
Quebec City is just 3 – 4 hours away by car, or take a private plane from Caribou and be there in less than 1 hour.
Recreation Room
Play pool, foosball, games and cards. Enjoy the books and puzzles.
Campfire
Enjoy sitting around the campfire. Ask about favorite campfire treats.
Entertainment
We can arrange for the Acadian Singers to entertain with the local songs in French and English, local comedy and legends. Other local entertainers can be arranged.

Bring your photos and learn how to assemble beautiful photo albums and scrapbooks in our craft shop. Gloria has 15 years experience working with people of all ages and all the tools to help people get the job done. Get those photos out of the shoe box and into albums that all can enjoy.
